This is my contribution to a small collaboration Australian and New Zealand cake artists to honour our ANZACs 100years after landing on the beaches at Gallipoli.
“They give their lives so we may live ours”
I made my cake to pay tribute to 3 of my Great-Great Uncles that made the ultimate sacrifice in World War 1.
976 Corporal Stephen Frederick Monaghan, 8th Australian Light Horse, Enlisted 1915, killed in action April 1916 in Jifjafa, Egypt Aged 28. He has no know grave, memorial on the Jerusalem Memorial, Jerusalem War Cemetery, Israel. He fought and was wounded by shrapnel in Gallipoli, then onto Egypt.
1650 Sergeant Phillip Roper Taylor, 25th Battalion, Australian Infantry, AIF, joined 1915, Killed on action near Warlencourt France, March 1917 aged 21, he is buried in Warlencourt British Cemetery, France. He fought at Gallipoli, Egypt and then France.
808 Private Arthur Young Taylor, 4Th Battalion, Australian Machine Gun Corps, Enlisted March 1917, Killed in Action Vendelles France, September 1918, aged 30, he is buried in Jeancourt Cemetery, France.
Arthur was Phillip’s older brother

Fantastic!!! What a cake to keep the memory of those horrible days during the war and for the sacrifice those young men did . I hate war. I have two sons myself. I’d rather break their legs then let them go to die for political manipulations. So sad . This cake is also for all the mums that lost their beautiful young sons . Well done !!!
