Pomander and white ruffles

Pomander and white ruffles

You know when you get a cake that you fight with from start to finish? This was one of them. It did not want to play ball….literally!
This was my first attempt at a sugar ruffle pomander and those little suckers did not want to stay put, just when i thought they might be completely adhered to the ball, id turn it over to do the underside and the top side ruffles would fall off…and that happened like 6 times. In the end I used royal icing and left the half covered ball in the sunlight to dry quicker before attempting the under side. I was originally using piping gel. As with most of my cakes, i wing it and hope for the best.
