When I got the opportunity to create something for the Frozen theme, I knew I had to branch out of the same snow-capped cakes and give myself a challenge of some sort. My kids and I watched the movie over, and over, and OVER again while I tried to gather some fresh ideas. One thing I hadn’t seen much of is Elsa’s Frozen Palace atop the North Mountain. Adding a fun structure was a must, so I set the mini tiered castle on a small PVC structure, which doesn’t actually sit on the mountain. The castle supports itself with a foam core base for strength. Carving the mountain was the fun part, because it didn’t have to be perfectly shaped. Since Cake Lace is my newfound love, I just had to add a ton of snowflakes to the board, mountain, and castle itself. The castle dimension was added with modeling chocolate cut from a template I created.
