I spent most of my weekend working on this cake for a lovely couple who were married yesterday. I was originally asked to create a cake covered with blossoms and some lovebirds to match the wedding invitations. Then with just a few weeks to go I was asked if the design could be changed to include a ‘secret’ reverse side as a surprise for the groom who loves all things superhero, so Batman, Captain America, Iron Man and Hulk were added to the mix!
The lower tiers were vanilla sponge with strawberry preserve and vanilla buttercream to be served at the wedding breakfast. The top tier was chocolate sponge with chocolate buttercream and was to be removed for the happy couple to take away with them to be enjoyed after the ceremony. Hulks fist was constructed from RKT and covered in modelling chocolate, and the ‘archway’ on the top tier was made from rice paper and florist wire.
