I loved making this cute cake for my smallest girl Mackenzie for her 2nd birthday party. She’s totally into tea parties and pretend baking, especially lolly cake (a classic NZ sweet treat!), so I dreamed up this cake for her. She loved it, and actually ate it too, rather than just licking the icing :)

I’ve fallen in love with kawaii style with those cute wee faces! I was inspired to do the dive bombing and relaxing tea bags in the tea cup by a couple of different art prints I’d seen and loved their animation. I really enjoyed the handpainting on this cake, and I’m also stoked I managed to get the fondant covering more perfect than I’ve done before.

It’s a 4" and 6" white chocolate mudcake with vanilla buttercream and white chocolate ganache. The tea cup is moulded from rice cereal treats.
