I loved this theme. My client’s daughter was turning 7, but she doesn’t like the super colorful whimsical Disney version of Alice, she loves the true original book & pictures. And the cakes she picked out as inspirations were all these elegant wedding cakes with soft colors & lots of gold. Very sophisticated tastes for a 7 year old!

So I printed out the original illustrations from the book and applied those to the second tier. The bottom tier is gold cake lace over soft blush pink, but of course we had to get the red hearts in there! The third tier is the Mad Hatter’s hat, balancing a cup of tea that’s spilling just a bit, & is surrounded by roses, some of which the cards hadn’t finished painting red yet.

The teacup is a tiny red velvet cake. The saucer & brim of the hat are gumpaste. The hat is a White Velvet cake with White Chocolate buttercream filling & dark chocolate ganache. The middle tier is a Hot Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Chip Cookie dough filling & dark chocolate ganache. The bottom tier is a dummy cake.
