This has to be my favourite cake of all time to make. I’ve wanted to do an ‘Alice’ cake for a long time and being asked to make a christening cake in that theme for a little Alice was so exciting for me. I crafted the teacup from my grandmother’s antique tea service – probably the first time in it’s 100 year history it had actually been used for anything, including making tea! I was so amazed when it turned out of it’s ‘mould’ in perfect shape on the very first attempt. ‘Alice’ was then build up inside the cup. Cake is vanilla with vanilla buttercream and raspberry conserve. I was really sad to see this cake go out yesterday – like waving my first born off to college!
