Elsa and Ice castle

Elsa and Ice castle
Elsa and Ice castle Elsa and Ice castle

Elsa, has proved to be the most asked for cake for me for 5 year old girls, including my own. There have been so many fabulous cakes made by some great cake makers and it is becoming more and more difficult to find a new angle to take.

I had this design in my head a few weeks ago and knew it wouldn’t be long before I got to test it out. (I have another, but not sold that one yet). Lots of people have a limited budget for children’s birthday cakes so to include both the castle and Elsa is a lot, most have one or the other, which is where the idea for decorating the side of the cake with the castle came in. No need to worry about drying time, simply cut some strips and ice castle shapes, air brush some blue colour onto them, layer them and voila, an ice castle. Next time I think I would make some changes to the castle, but we all make changes for the better second time round.

It was hard to get this past my 5 year old. You could see the frozen glaze come over her eyes as she looked at it, hoping that it was for her. Quite sad really and does make me feel like a mean mummy sometimes. But to compensate we are off to sing a long frozen tomorrow all 2 hours and 40 minutes of it! I think the toughest part though will be persuading my 3 year old son to let his older sister wear the Anna dress and not him.

Hope you like it. Sam
