My first Icing Smiles, Inc. cake for this year. The cake was for a special little boy who was celebrating his 1 year birthday. His name his Jonah and you can learn more about this little boy at Jonah’s Journey. I received a bunch of photos from his mom, and she explain to me how the whale is a special symbol in his life. I love the whale art done by Jonah’s nurse while he was in NICU. This became my inspiration for his birthday cake.
The whale is a carved from four 8" rounds (vanilla and chocolate cake), covered in fondant and airbrushed. Tail is made of RKT covered in fondant. The water spout was Simi isomalt that was pulled. The letters are made of gumpaste glued to 22 gauge white floral wire. The waves are swirls of fondant.
