I saw the wonderful tutorial by Mary & Brenda Maher of The Cakegirls going around for this adorable cat in a pumpkin, & I had been dying to try it. Then a wonderful client gave me complete free rein on a design for her daughter’s birthday, simply asking for a ‘fall’ theme. So I jumped at the chance to include this adorable kitty in a pumpkin, which is perfect for the theme, & I can cross another one off my ‘cake bucket list’.

The inspiration for the entire theme came from an incredibly adorable little girls’ fall themed outfit I saw for sale, & immediately thought…..‘cake!!!’ I had saved the picture in my file of cake ideas, & since it included a pumpkin as well as the polka dots & ruffles, how PURRfect to incorporate the kitty in a pumpkin cake in the theme?

The kitty is rice krispy treats & modeling chocolate. The pumpkin is White Velvet cake, colored orange, with white chocolate buttercream filling & icing, with fondant decor. The bottom tier is red velvet cake with white chocolate buttercream filling, white chocolate ganache & chocolate fondant, with fondant decor.
