“Come One, Come All To The Greatest Show On Earth” shouts the ringmaster as the lion enters the ring, balancing on top of a circus ball. What is so special about this act, you may ask. Well, for one thing, the lion had earned his place as the main feature of the show by beating his friends, the tiger and the bear at a “Do Your Thing on the Circus Ball” competition. The tiger lost the competition because he could only jump over the ball whereas the bear lost because he just rode on a Penny Farthing, chasing the ball around the ring. The lion however, dazzled the crowd by twirling himself around like a ballerina, balancing on the tip of only one hind foot. He twirled so fast that his fiery mane appeared to be in flames! But a bear riding a Penny Farthing is mighty impressive too, one may argue. Sorry! the competition is “Do your thing On the Circus Ball”, not “Do your Thing With the Circus Ball”.

Made this rather last minute circus themed cake featuring a balancing lion back to back with the balancing top hats cake. I guess I am addicted to gravity defying figurines? I wanted to make the bear riding the Penny Farthing but there just wasn’t enough time. The cute animal figurines were modelled after the ones illustrated in my client’s birthday invitation card. The color scheme is vibrant, as emphasized by the client.
