A dear client & friend of mine had a birthday coming up. Her husband got in touch with me because he wanted to surprise her with something REALLY special, & we conjured up this cake for her. This was all his concept. They are wine connoisseurs. He wanted the wine bottle pouring into a glass & then splashing down onto the cake, which was to look like a wooden table, & have a ‘tasting plate’ of cheese, chocolate, & crackers.

The bottle & glass are real. This particular bottle is very significant to them so they had saved it as a keepsake, & the glass is a special birthday wine glass. The cake is gluten free Orange Creamsicle cake with Orange Dark Chocolate ganache filling & icing. The plate is gumpaste, & the ‘cheese’ is modeling chocolate. The chocolates & crackers are the real thing. All edible except the bottles, glass, & the support structure.

She had NO clue. He pulled off a real surprise & she was thrilled!
