I love Beatrix Potter and so was delighted when asked to make a Jemima Puddle Duck cake for a Christening. I’d seen a clip of a tutorial by the fabulous Margie Carter, on cake decorating online. Margie made a Jemima Puddle Duck using cake, so I thought if she can be made from cake, she can also be made using icing. (I still must go back and watch how to make her in cake as that must be fabulous). I hand painted the detail on her shawl, as well as some flowers behind the fence. I also added some 3d sugar flowers to give the cake some depth. The bottom tier has beautiful pink ombré ruffles.
We also got to spend the day at the christening and I had so many lovely comments. So many people thought that Jemima was an ornament. It was so lovely to see their faces when they realised she was made from sugar.
Hope you like her too. Sam. X
