I think it was only a matter of time before I was asked to make a cake in the shape of a VW camper van, as they are such iconic vehicles and popular cakes. It turns out they are like buses, as not longer after I did the first one, I had a totally unrelated enquiry for another before I’d even published any photos of the first!

As carved cakes go they are relatively straightforward as they are still a box type shape, but even so, for the first one it took a while to get the shape to my satisfaction before covering with sugarpaste. In the end I was really pleased with the first one, and so was the customer who said it was even better than she’d expected – praise indeed! The second was improved only by tweaking the back lights slightly.
