I am super trilled to share this Topsy Turvy Steampunk themed cake with you all. I made this cake for the ICES Michigan Sugar Art Showcase 2014 and I won the grand price at the event and also the Steampunk choice award for it. I found out about this completion just two weeks prior to the completion and since its my first time ever entering I was super excited. I used a lot of mediums in this cake, wafer paper, sugar dress, Isomalt are just a few. About 90% of the cake was made with modeling chocolate. I also had steam coming from the top of the Air Ship and Lights underneath the travel case which is hard to see in the picture. Two weeks was not enough but with a lot of sleepless nights it was all worth it at the end!

My inspiration for this cake is a verse I found which was the driven force behind my cake!

We put our feelings and experiences onto paper, canvas, surfaces of all kinds.
