Keeping to the musical theme that has been running through our home this year (following the piano and guitar cakes for my boys) I made this record player cake for my husband’s birthday this weekend. Both the piano and guitar cakes were made using DIY tools and both presented me with new challenges and techniques. So bearing that in mind this cake had to be extra special as well. So the record was airbrushed and then hand painted – but I didn’t think that was special enough – so I decided the record had to actually spin!! Yes my A-level physics was going to be put to use – so with a bit of help from my lovely hubby we made the record spin. The 3rd photo was taken whilst the record was spinning.
