Queen Elsa, working her magic! Everything about this cake is edible, including the CAPE, except the Elsa doll herself! Inspired by the design of Ipoh Bakery’s amazing doll cakes, this cake depicts the scene where she is building her ice castle & transforms into the Ice Queen. They didn’t come out very well in the pictures, but she even has snowflakes coming up from her hands.

The cape was a particular puzzle for me, until I had the idea to make it out of gelatin, using the wonderful ‘gelatin spinach bag’ tutorial by Christine of Imaginarium cakes. (View the tutorial here) I tweaked her technique to make the cape shimmery & to have the snowflakes embedded like Elsa’s real cape .

I also tried to make the board look like the floor of her castle, where she stomps her foot & the snowflakes appear in the floor. I used Crystal Candy’s fabulous Snowflake Lace Mat for the effect.

The cake is my Vanilla Almond white cake with White Chocolate Buttercream filling & White Chocolate Ganache. All fondant decor, except for the gelatin cape & wafer paper snowflakes.
