This 4 tier (10" dummy, 8" choc, 6" vanilla, 4" choc) cake stood tall at 22" and was one of my most challenging cakes to date, causing quite a few tears, tantrums and very late nights along the way, but it was SO worth it as by the time it was finished I was completely in love :). . The bottom 10" tier was a dummy that I carved into sections to create ‘underwater caves’ and then backlit with blue balloon lights so that the cake had a beautiful and mysterious glow in the dark (I’m sorry I failed to get any decent photos of this). I don’t know why I had the bright idea that the shark should be swimming through the top tier. It made life really hard as the tail fins kept drooping or snapping. Much stamping of feet later and I finally made it stay put with the help of a few well placed cocktail sticks! With the exception of the fish, which I used a mould for, everything was hand sculpted from sugarpaste.

Thank you for looking :) x
