This cake was made for a 50 years old birthday party, my costumer sent me the picture of her dad’s Jeep and I recreated it in cake. This cake was made for 40 guests, it was about 12" by 8" (two tiers and one layer of filling in each tier). I used fondant to cover it, I made the wheels with rice crispy and then I cover them in fondant as well. To give the different texture between the hard and soft parts of the vehicle I painted the hard parts (metal and glass) with pipping gel. When I finished I felt that something was missing so I decided to add real lights to it. I got the lights at a party supply store, in the balloon section (this LED lights are for balloons, very tiny and last for about 8 hours). The ground is made with powdered Graham cookies. What I love the most about making cakes is the faces of people when they see it…I love adding extras that costumers don’t expect at all!
