My first Lorax cake in the Dr. Seuss line of books. I have done the Cat in the Hat cake and, one fish, etc… book cake.
I hope you like it!!! 100% BUTTERCREAM except #1 for topper I did out of fondant (my first 2-tone number).
Also puffy tree décor to resemble Lorax trees in book. (The customer got these for décor on cupcakes).
I did cat in the hat frosted in white BC, then piped red BC, and smoothed red icing w/ spatula dipped in very warm water. Then I piped #4 black lines on hat. This was a 3-layer 6-inch round cake = #6-inches tall
Cupcakes were piped w/ buttercream various shades of BC w/ #22.
Lorax cake (top tier), was frosted in white BC, then piped 2 tones of blue on top and smoothed w/ icing spatula dipped in very warm water. **(2-layer 10-inch round cake = #4 inches tall)
I piped green icing w/ #12 tip or you can just add w/ spatula and smooth as described above. I used #5 green BC between blue and green line where it was separated.
Piped Lorax trees w/ #6 trunks and #3 black stripes. #20-#22 to pipe round circular lorax trees. Used #3 tip to make spiral points coming out from each tree topper to give a fluffy look.
Piped #8 reverse scroll in white and used various tip #3, in colors on Lorax trees around base.
I drew Lorax man on top tier freehand and filled in w/ #16 tip to look like fur and mustache. Orange and yellow BC.
I used center column cake stand from Wilton. I used different heights by adding columns and screws and bolts provided w/ set. Largest cupcake platter is 18-inch cake stand w/ legs from set.
Customer also provided fluffy strands of fluff around each stand~
