Indian Dancer Sculpted cake

Indian Dancer Sculpted cake

Well…. This was an interesting/pain in the backside cake!
She was completely finished, structurally sound and would have taken a bulldozer to knock her over…. then the morning of Cake International comes and I realised she is far to big to fit in the car…. she stood 3.5ft tall! So at 6am in the morning, in complete desperation, I took a knife to her head and cut it off. My repair kit sat on my table and I though, cool, Ill fix her there!
2.5 hours in the car to ExCel and yep, I get there late thanks to an accident and behold…… repair kit still sits at home on my table! DUGH!!!! I had one bamboo skewer loose so I stuck that through her head and prayed. She lasted for a good 4 hours before her head toppled off, damaging her arm on its fall. Judging then commences…. great…. headless cake and all that! And thankfully they still awarded her a Silver.
There is a MEGA lesson to be learned here….. DO NOT cut a perfectly safe cake! And buy a bloody van!
This picture is of her fully assembled in the morning and how she would have looked if the head stayed on all weekend!
