It isn’t every day you’re asked to make a cake for a WW2 veteran fighter pilot, so it was a tremendous honour to make this Spitfire cake. It was a 6" tall triple layer chocolate cake, sandwiched with lashings of salted chocolate buttercream and decorated simply to look like the sky with fluffy white clouds, so the Spitfire topper could really steal the show. The Spitfire was hand sculpted from sugarpaste, so it was entirely edible.
Made for Rodney with love and admiration on his 93rd Birthday, but also with respect for all our WW2 veterans.
