Carved from a triple layer 13×9″ chocolate slab cake, and sandwiched together with salted chocolate buttercream, this cake was presented on a custom-made elevated ‘chassis’ board. The client requested that the car be made to look as much as possible like the Birthday Boy’s Ford Sierra, and wanted it presented in a sideways skid. It was finished with some pale blue metallic air brushing, a couple of coats of edible cake lacquer and some sugarpaste tyres. I found this cake deceptively challenging and wasn’t entirely happy with the end result, but the client was very happy with it. What is it about car cakes that makes them so hard?!
Thanks for looking :)

You are too hard on yourself. I think it’s fab!
The thought of being asked to make a car cake absolutely terrifies me, but I can’t see anything wrong with this one. Love it.
Thank you. You are very kind.
