This cake was made to celebrate the 40th Birthday of a Classics teacher. It stood nearly 3 feet tall (the head was life sized) and was carved from vanilla madeira. It was presented on a fondant covered custom-made plinth and was completely edible from the shoulders up. This was the largest cake carving project I have taken on to date and although the eyes are a little ‘bug-meets-alien’ I am pleased with the results.
