This cake was made as a gift for a very special colleague who went on leave to have her first baby. I wanted to make something that was feminine and cute. I love the soft pink and beige tones of this cake. I think the details are what make this cake truly special. The fondant lace work the quilling and the rustic layered edge.

The cake is a banana cake with chocolate ganache. Top tier is a dummy cake but all other parts of this cake are edible excluding the diamonties and ribbon featured on the baby owl. A very simple but stylish and modern cake. Easily interchangeable with blue and beige tones if it was to be made for a boy:)
