La Befana is an old woman, a little ’ugly, hunchbacked, with the big nose, pointed chin, with old clothes and worn out, so many patches, a shawl over her shoulders, a long skirt and a hat on his head. But despite her appearance she is in her own way and brings gifts to good children.
In the night between the 5th and 6th of January, riding a broom with a heavy bag, it flies in the skies to bring Italian sweets to good children and coal to bad ones.
