Just when you thought that the coast is clear… the naughtiest of all mischievous babies topples another cake and this time, it’s a Girl… Again!
“Tally Ho! Having just learned the game of ‘leap frog’, this mischievous baby girl has been practicing vaulting over her crawling baby friends. Upon seeing her favorite rubber ducky floating at the top of the wooden bath tub and not being able to judge the height of the tub, she took a running jump and vaulted over the edge of the tub! But Oh dear! … Her tiny hands or her cute bottom must have hit the edge with some force because the wooden tub is toppling, toppling… and the water and bubbles are spilling over!”
Made this “Bath Time Rubber Ducky” themed two tiered double barrel cake sculpted to resemble a wooden bath tub for one year old Syn Yen’s birthday bash in early November. It features the 3D sugar figurines of a “Rubber Ducky” and a “Jumping Baby Girl” dressed in a simple representation of Syn Yen’s birthday dress of blue denim with embroidered cream blossoms. Inspiration for the “Jumping Baby Girl” was from Carlos Lischetti’s new “Jumping Girl” sugar figurine.
This was my first cake that required me to use a power drill to secure the cake to the cake board for that ‘toppling over’ effect. It was also my first time using the power drill and quite a harrowing experience. So glad that my client managed to get the cake to the venue without it really falling down!
Thanks for looking :)
