Thanks to her fairy godmother, Cinderella is all dressed up and ready for the ball in a dazzling blue ball gown with lace underskirts and glittery icy blue peplum, complimented by matching glittery cap sleeves and glittery gloves. Her golden blonde hair is pulled up into a variation of a French twist that is complimented with a glittery blue band over it and a simple black choker is tied around her neck for the elegant look. But the day has been long with never ending chores for poor Cinders and so before stepping into her carriage, she decides to take a breather in the garden and smell the roses. Ahh… the Prince and the royal ball can wait!
Made this Cinderella doll cake for six year old Ines’s birthday in early November. Her head and upper body is entirely hand modeled from gumpaste whereas her skirt is fondant iced cake. To add a touch of color to her otherwise plain blue ensemble, I decided to make Cinderella holding a single miniature sugar rose stem in her hand. Plum and yellow petal dust was brushed onto the petals for a realistic effect. This was my first attempt at making miniature sugar flowers under the excellent guidance of Fumi Fukumoro’s book “Miniature Flowers In Sugar” and a great opportunity to make use of the miniature rose petal and leaf cutters which I bought years ago.
Thanks for looking! :)
