This all started for me when I had my first child. I wanted her to have a really cool cake for her 1st birthday but I was young and couldn't afford one. Having an art background (I am a graphic designer) I decided to try to tackle it myself. It turned out well, so I kept making their cakes and over the years they got more and more elaborate. Then a couple of years ago a friend of mine asked me if I would please make her a cake for her husband's surprise birthday party. I had never made a cake for anyone else before then. That caused a chain reaction. Other friends started asking, then friends of friends, and so on. Now here I am...a wife, a mom, I have a full time job...and I'm also now part of this crazy cake thing. I have no formal training, so I've pretty much figured it out as I go...and it's been fun every step of the way. :)
