Sports Car/Ferrari Cake Topper

Hi all!

i’ve got a challenge and a half for quite a high-profile cake in just under two weeks time and after a little help and advice . . .

I need to make a Ferrari topper (sports car and not F1) for a two tiered cake and although I have a perfect vision in my head of how I would like it to turn out this will be my first car model.

Does anyone know of any tutorials that could help me out and would you recommend that i carve the car from a cake dummy or create from rice Krispies?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Lisa ! If it’s going to be quite a decent size, I’d say look online for the car’s blueprint … It’s a great starting point to print out and use as a template for dimensions. I would say RKT covered in fondant for a larger car. And try YouTube – Liz Marek has a fab one (in 3 parts I think) .. hers is very detailed, oh, and vintage, but it gives you some great pointers … Here’s the link xx

Hi Lisa. If you are looking for blueprints try http://www.the-blueprints.com/ I have used their blueprints to carve cakes. Just print out to the size required and laminate to ensure that they are re-usable. x

This is not a Ferrari, but you may get some good tips from this inexpensive class:http://www.craftsy.com/class/classic-car-timeless-techniques/357?ct=sbqii-sqjuweho-dum&ctp=1&rceId=1429566217077~7menijyu
