Thanks Sarabeth and Raquel for your lovely kind comments, but I have to emphasise that I can’t take credit for the design as it was all Debbie’s brilliant imagination that produced this wonderful design. Thanks Ladies :) xxx

That is beautiful! How did you do the hair? Each time I attempt long hair, it just falls off :)

Hi Radhika, We didn’t get to the hair in class so I sort of fudged it a little. I used 3 pieces of flattened fondant that I ‘etched’ with lines to look like hair, then rolled lots of thin pieces of fondant to place on top of these…they’re quite stable because of the solid base. Hope that helps :) xx

Raewyn, Sydney, Australia https://www.facebook.com/cakesbyraewyn

Thank you so much. I can do short hair, but I hope my mermaid that I’m making doesn’t go bald on the day of the party :)

Sh I stick on the hair once the face hardens? Because I was mangling her face trying to put the hair on yesterday.

Radhika, Singapore, http://sinsationscakes.wordpress.com/

Haha! Yes, if the fondant is too soft still you will get a very wonky head lol! That’s why I love the larger figurines as I use a styrene ball inside their heads so you don’t really have any drying time and they’re very stable even after they come off the cake :)
