Noah and the whale

Noah and the whale Noah and the whale

Ok – I know it’s Jonah and the whale………..
but this little boy is called Noah and he’s having his 1st Birthday party today.
AND his invitations have this really cute little whale on them (above).
Well, it’s a refreshing change from making him an Ark – also, I know his Mum wouldn’t have wanted anything as obvious as that.
I hope you had an amazing 1st Birthday Noah xx

p.s this cake was such a challenge to make in this weather we’ve had this week.
My hats off to those of you who live in countries that have regular high humidity.
I really wasn’t prepared for the way the fondant behaved and I ended up having to strip it and roll the fondant around the sides and cut the top separately instead of draping the fondant in the usual way.
It was just tearing and sliding off!! and I’ve never seen so many bumps and bulges in my whole caking life!
I learned such a lot with this cake, and I’m really surprised and pleased with how well it ended up given the problems it caused.
I used to work with Noah’s Mum, so I know she has an equally critical eye as I do so I was worried it wouldn’t stand up to scrutiny.
We’re never 100% happy with our creations though are we?

Very sweet…

Ahhh, this is clearly made with love, so adorable!! I’m so sorry to hear about the stress re weather conditions, I totally relate, I went through hell last week with the Pegahorn…. It’s scary when you have no control. It’s turned out beautifully, despite the challenge you underwent and you’re so right, we are never 100% happy 💕

You must never limit your challenges, instead you must challenge your limits

I think it turned out fabulous! What a sweet design!
