I just finished this cake a week or so ago. It is one that I was working on for a cake show that we have coming up in our area in September. The top tier is mmf with brushed embroidery on it, the second tier is done in the tufted billow weave technique, the third tier is mmf and using the Wilton molds for some of the beading, and then smaller ones for the rest. The ribbon was textured with a corrugated texture sheet by Makins. The very bottom tier was all draped using Wilton fondant, and I did that for the purpose of not wanting to tear the corners. All was airbrushed with pearl sheen. Thank you for taking the time to look.

This is gorgeous Linda. Your brushed embroidery is so perfect. I love the tufted billow effect, and want to try that on the cake I make for my grandson’s baptism next month.

Toni, it is so much easier to do than it actually looks. I was pretty amazed at how easy it was. I am making just a single cake coming up as a Mother’s Day cake giveaway drawing which is coming up in a couple of weeks and I am going to do the tufted billow weave on that one too. I’ve already got all of my little ‘buttons’ made and dried. It’s just something that I started this year as a payback to those who are in my area. One cake giveaway a month isn’t going to make or break me, and it gives me a chance to stay on top of my decorating skills.
