A hobby that stems from my 2 children and the want to create imaginative magical cakes for them.
When my son turned two , he was enthralled with Roary the Racing Car, this led to me deciding to create a cake for the first time, that was 4 years ago and I now have a kitchen cupboard bursting with tools and equipment, sky plus full of recorded cake programmes and more imagination and creativity to produce cakes for family and friends from children's wow birthday cakes ( the kind that make their faces light up) to sport themed cakes to pretty flower, butterflies etc cakes. The arrival of my daughter and her 1st Birthday gave me the incentive to make my 1st tiered cake and soon after my sons 'Charlie and the Chocolate factory tiered cake.
In our house if there is an opportunity for cake to be made then I can't wait to get started.
My DISNEY 'Finding Nemo' presented new challenges (cake pop coral, airbrushing the sea, using piping gel for sea effect).
Christmas 2013 done aNd cakes accomplished with Christmas tree chocolate, lemon drizzle and a new flavour for me 'rhubarb and ginger' sponges for my sons school Christmas bazaar, 25 reindeer cupcakes for his class, decoration for sister in law's cake to take to her school and our own christmas cake and gingerbread house, it did turn into a very busy lead up to Christmas.
2014 brings new challenges as I begin to think of my son and daughters birthday cakes. Star Wars R2-D2 with rotating head perhaps? for my son & Sophia the First for my daughter with the flying horse or something along those lines perhaps.
Busy in the kitchen with , a floral 80th birthday cake, a princess inspired cake, a toy story 2nd birthday cake and my biggest challenge a two tiered floral and quilted wedding cake for an easter weekend wedding.
I have finally made my blog/website the beginning of January, one of my 2014 resolutions done and ticked off.
Best start planning/drawing and practising some cakes :-)
IF ITS TIME TO BAKE, IT IS TIME FOR CAKE :-D
