I have been crafting, cooking and baking for over 30+ years but I have never decorated a cake except your basic covering one in store bought frosting. So when I was about to have my first grand daughter and went looking for someone to make some cupcakes, I was floored at how much this local bakery wanted for them and they weren't even decorated with fondant or any particular special flavor...just the basic cake flavor and basic buttercream flavor...and I thought to myself, I could do that!! So, I took a couple of Wilton classes to learn some of the basics and then I ventured out onto you tube and came across so many great Cakers and their tutorials. The main two people who I came across were Edna de la Cruz with Designmeacake.com and Mayen with Way Beyond Cakes by Mayen on facebook. I tell people all the time, if it wasn't for you tube and facebook, I probably wouldn't be decorating cakes right now! With all of the support with websites like this and facebook friends like Way Beyond Cakes by Mayen, Design Me a Cake by Edna, Ann-Marie Cakes, Adventures in Caking by Benni, Toni White and Peggy Does Cake (just to name a few)...all on FB,...I wouldn't be where I am at today...A very big thank you to these wonderful ladies who always encourage and assist when needed! My first fondant cake I made for someone other than my family practice ones was in January 2011...so I just celebrated my one year anniversary! :) Thanks SO much for stopping by my page here.
