My name is Lisa and I am chief cake dec ninja, boss lady, owner and manager of Sugar Sugar Cake Decorations.
I fell in love with cake decorating when i was 15 when my nana bought me a Mary Ford cake decorating book. I began following the step by step instructions in the book, teaching myself the different techniques and found i was really quite good at it! I attended college, gained qualifications, made and sold cakes for friends and family for a few years, then i had two children. It all got put to one side as life took over and i always said 'its something to fall back on'.... 20 odd years later, I come across a cake decorating book while browsing a local book shop. POW!!
I go home, hunt out my old nozzles and equipment, make some royal icing and throw myself into my old 'hobby'.
I discovered I was no longer interested in baking and decorating whole cakes, I much preferred the creative side of producing edible toppers and realised that there were lots of people who were the opposite and would rather bake than 'faff'. Six months later... Sugar Sugar was born.
Since 2009 I have been making and selling handmade cake decorations but i don't see my job as work.
I get up and play every single day.
