we got to cover wire with fondant before, shaped it first to the way we needed it to then covered it with fondant. We brushed it lightly with water to stick to the wire. Gently pressed it to itself to seal. it was the first time we got to do it so i think it pretty much needed more polishing but the couple of the cake loved it. Also we wrapped the part of the wire that will be inserted onto the cake with parchment paper. I guess you can wrap it also with foil.
Cakes are meant to be eaten!!!
