re: Pricing Cakes & getting told it's to expensive.. Sheesh!

I guess this will always be a topic for cake designers. I put a lot of work into my cakes and use top-shelf ingredients. It never fails that people want to compare prices to Publix or a big box store. I just wish I could find a way to get them to tell me what their first point is. I’ll work diligently to come up with something within that if it all possible. I actually had someone contact me wanting 100 cupcakes and a 6in brides cake. I need was swallowed my arm when they told me their budget was $ $150.

I think what is really sad is these people go on Pinterest and fall in love with these amazing cakes without having any clue of what it took to put them together and what the cost was.

I have also told bride’s to do themselves a favor and stay off Pinterest two weeks prior to the wedding. Inevitably they will find something that they have fallen in love with and want to make changes. If their order incorporates a lot of gum paste, fondant or pastillage components, good chance that cake is already in production.
