I sure am no expert, i’ll allow myself to answer you for the colors.
For a start up palette, the main colors you might need are the 3 primary colors (red, blue, yellow), and some white and black.
Red + Blue = Purple
Red + Yellow = Orange
Blue + Yellow = Green
