Hi Sara! I did exactly the same thing with a topper I made and wanted to keep it for display, all I did was ice a cake board in a wood effect and stuck the topper on with royal icing, this was a year ago and is still perfect!! The fondant on the board completely sealed it! Have attached a pic to show you, hope this helps!! :-) x
