You are the mother of the bride…I don’t think there is anything that is going to make that day less stressful! That being said, I did my son’s wedding cake a year and a half ago. I live in NC and the wedding was in Ohio. Keep in mind I was the mother of the groom. All I had to do was show up to the wedding. I think the best advice I can give you is to try to keep things as simple as possible and keep the priorities straight. The important thing about this day, is the joining of two families and the love between your daughter and her future husband.
To make that day less stressful for me, I hired out the actual baking of the cake. There was now way I could actually bake the cake without an actual kitchen. There I was in a side room of the reception venue whipping away making buttercream. (Yes, I took my KA mixer with me to Ohio) I had a choice that day, We were either going to have good cake, or I was going to have good hair, I didn’t have time for both. As it happened, I only had about an hour to get myself ready for the wedding. Not enough time for good hair too.
We had good cake that day. When I look at the photo of my son and I dancing together, it didn’t matter what my hair looked like because the smiles on our faces was priceless. I was giddy the whole day!
I hope this helps!
