How to quickly and easily cover Panettone

This is a picture of Panettone I found on the internet. It’s one of the most famous Italian Christmas cakes. In this tutorial you can learn my easy and quickly way to covered it with fondant.

If you like, use two Panettone (as I did), one onto the other, to have a taller cake.

Cut the top of the first Panettone.

Cover the new top of the first Panettone with some buttercream or your favorite cream.

Put the second Panettone onto the first one and cut the edges, to level.

I filled the second Panettone with buttercream, but you can use the cream you love.

Now coat the whole cake with buttercream.

Freeze for some hours to get a stronger cake (Panettone is a soft one!).

Shape the fondant as a rectangle: the longest side = circumference of the cake;
the shortest side = height of the cake at its highest point.

Cut one of the longest sides of the fondant as you can see in the following pic.
Inside cut points beginning = height of the cake at its shortest point.

Lay down the cake onto the fondant, roll it and cover with the fondant.

Pull up the cake and gently fix and smooth the fondant on the edge.

Cut the excess of fondant on the top.

Gently press and level the fondant on the top of the cake.

Now you are done.

Decorate your way and enjoy!
