I’ve gone crazy over floral buttercream cakes, so when I joined a wedding exhibit last weekend, I made a four-tier floral buttercream cake. It’s just a dummy cake, and I used vegetable shortening with a bit of confectioners’ sugar and cornstarch to make the “buttercream” stiffer so that it could endure being displayed in front of many people for days. I made it Wednesday night last week, and it’s still holding up pretty well in my kitchen until now.
