20 years ago I started playing around with cake decorating. Made mostly for the kids during the week. Sadly. I didn’t take pictures of most ( almost all) . When my girls were in pre school I decided to make their teachers each a christmas cake ( they each had 2 and they are twins) totaling 4 cakes. This took my a week. As time went I started doing 1 a year for personal reasons. Later, about 10 years later I started doing more and became more intrested in it. Dreaming of cakes. I was hooked.
I am posting cakes from 20 years ago and when I started back.

Hello Barbara. Thank you for your lovely story. All those Christmas cakes in one hit must have worn you out! It is a shame you didn’t take photographs but you can start now which is a good thing. I was told a couple of years ago that my cakes were photographed badly and so I try to make sure I allow some time to photograph the cake in good lighting with a good camera and in a good position without clutter. That was the advice from my brother in law who is a professional photographer so I am happy to pass on the same advice! :) Hope CakesDecor helps to keep your interest going and dreaming of cakes (a sure cake addict haha!). xx

20 years ago things were so different and I didn’t realize I would get so into it. I posted pictures of the Christmas ones but they were just for me at the time. Many cakes over the years either I didn’t get the pic. Or who I made them for never gave me one even though they said they would.
Thank you for the advice. :-)
Barbara
You are welcome! I am not photography expert, that is for sure and I usually run out of time and photograph and postion the cakes very quickly haha! Some don’t even get photographed at all! xx
