re: Elmo 1st birthday Cake

oh my thank you so so much. it is such an honor :) so how i made the topper? pretty easy. i just printed out an elmo photo/image on paper then used that as a template and cut the figure out on actual gumpaste. make sure you use gumpaste vs fondant as gumpaste dries really hard. Roll the gumpaste out a bit thicker than normal…. i would say maybe 1/8 thick… once you have your figure, flip it and get a piece of wire or skewer to make a slight indentation of elmo’s back. flip it back once more and add on his facial features. let it dry for a day or two. once it is completely dry, flip it back to where you see your previous indentation. brush a bit of gum glue into the groove and place your skewer or wire into it. get another piece of gumpaste rolled out a bit thinner. just cut into a rectangular shape. just enough so that it would go over and cover the skewer. brush some gum glue onto the rectangular piece and attach it to the back of elmo to cover your skewer. dry elmo once again. :) i hope this makes sense. let me know if you have any other questions. i would love to see what you had made for your daughter’s birthday. :)
