I was asked to help a friend of a friend out with a wedding cake design for her Son.
She planned to make it herself but was worried about the size.
I agreed to make it but really did not know what I was getting myself into ;)
The cake measured 12×9×13″ and used 60 eggs, 2kg buttercream and 4kg fondant!
The cake was made in three tiers, very heavily dowelled and had two crumb coats of buttercream.
Then followed two layers of fondant.
The dash was made as one unit and added at the end.
The leather look was achieved by scrunching up kitchen foil, flattening out and then pressing against the black fondant.
It was a scary cake to make, but I am relatively happy with the result.
