My friend is getting married, & the theme “Timing is Everything” means a lot to them. They sent out ‘save the date’ cards for their wedding that had them sitting on the back of an old pickup truck, holding a wooden board that said “Timing is Everything”. He asked me to make a simple cake that looked like the board on the card.
I had never done wood grain on a large scale, so I was very pleased with how this came out. I wanted it to look like the board was lying on the floor of an old barn, with that wonderful gray ‘old-barn’ wood. Just the two cakes looked a little ‘too’ simple & rustic to me, so I added the fondant leaves. Which then inspired me to gather some of the gorgeous fall bounty from around my yard & create a tableau for the photos. The roses are real, my beautiful ‘Crepuscule’ antique roses!
The cakes are caramel pecan pound cake, with caramel buttercream filling & caramel white chocolate ganache.
