A friend of mine was going to make her friend’s wedding cake, but since she got a full-time job, she asked me. She wanted something simple: a three-tier square cake with purple flowers and purple ribbon. I used American buttercream, and I had planned on using fake flowers, but then I changed my mind and decided to make gumpaste flowers. This was my first real wedding cake, and the first time I’ve made gumpaste flowers besides tiny little roses. The cake itself was vanilla with vanilla buttercream and fresh strawberries for the filling.
