A Wedding Cake of a Different Color

A Wedding Cake of a Different Color

Royal Blue and Copper Wedding Cake

When the bride brought me a picture of a royal blue wedding cake, I went into panic mode. How do I get that color? Will my fondant be too soft to cover the cake if I add that much coloring? Should I airbrush it? Scratch that, I don’t own an airbrush. Can I borrow an airbrush? Scratch that, I don’t know how to airbrush and I’m certainly not attempting it for the first time on a wedding cake. Liz Marek, of Artisan Cake Company, came to my rescue with her amazing homemade fondant recipe (LMF for short). She advised that I can add the color to the marshmallows during the mixing process and it would not change the consistency of her recipe. I covered this entire cake with one batch of LMF, which cost me a whopping $5.00 to make! Sorry if I sound like a walking testimonial but her recipe seriously saved my behind on this cake. :)
