Fijian Kava Bowl Cake ~
Kava is a drink made from pounding the roots of the Kava Tree – it is mixed with water and makes an emulsion that tastes like muddy water (well to me at least as I have tasted it – I lived next door to a Fijian family). It is a drink had in a large, ornate wooden bowl and drunk from coconut shell halves. Kava is intoxicating but supposedly keeps the mind very alert!!!…I am not sure how that works!!! It is mainly drunk by men and the ceremony of drinking Kava brings them together socially.
The board is decorated to represent the hand painted papyrus parchment mats. The lady (repeat customer) wanted a ‘Lei’ – Hawaiian flower garland – that is my representation.
The cake is dark chocolate with white chocolate ganache.
Thanks for looking.
